Southwood offers both men’s and women’s Level III.5 residential substance use treatment programs. The programs are available to individuals referred from social service agencies, medical practitioners, hospitals, courts, corrections, other treatment programs, family members, and to self-referred individuals.
Comprehensive SUD Treatment Programs for Men
Southwood Interventions offers two specialized programs designed to support men in their recovery from substance use disorders. Both programs operate within a patient-centered framework, empowering individuals to define and pursue their own recovery goals—whether that includes harm reduction strategies or a commitment to complete abstinence.
For individuals diagnosed with Opioid Use Disorder, both programs provide access to Medicated-Assisted Recovery (MAR) using FDA-approved medications such as Sublocade and Brixadi. For patients currently prescribed methadone, Southwood collaborates closely with their opioid treatment program to ensure continuity of care and uninterrupted access to medication.
Recognizing the critical role of family in long-term recovery, both programs incorporate structured Family Support Groups and weekly visitation opportunities. Families may also participate in individualized counseling sessions during the patient’s stay. For patients involved with the Department of Children and Family Services (DCFS), each program offers dedicated space for supervised visitation, supporting the preservation and strengthening of family connections.
Southwood Interventions takes a holistic approach to care by addressing the full spectrum of factors that impact recovery. Services are provided directly or coordinated through trusted partners to meet physical health, mental health, and social needs. This includes comprehensive care coordination to ensure continuity and stability throughout treatment.
Discharge planning begins at admission, ensuring that each patient leaves with a clear, individualized path forward. As a result of this proactive and structured approach, more than 85% of patients successfully transition to a recovery residence or a lower level of care upon discharge.

Women deserve a space for recovery that is safe, empowering, and designed around their lived experiences. The women’s residential treatment program provides a trauma informed environment where care is grounded in respect, trust, and emotional safety, allowing individuals to heal without fear of judgment or re-traumatization. By integrating mental health and substance use disorder services, treatment addresses the full scope of each woman’s needs—recognizing the deep connections between trauma, mental wellness, and substance use. This patient centered, holistic approach goes beyond symptoms to support the whole person, fostering resilience, restoring autonomy, and building a strong foundation for lasting recovery.
